Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small records stored in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage and session storage. Their purpose and behaviour matter, whether or not the technology is called a cookie.
Dashboard and widget storage
The dashboard, player and widget use cookies and browser storage for account access, requested actions and optional preferences. The items present depend on the features, environment and customer integration you use.
| Name or group | Purpose | Configured lifetime and choice |
|---|---|---|
hugs_live_console_* | Authenticated dashboard session, account and workspace context | 8 hours. Used for requested dashboard access. Environment-specific prefixes can differ. |
hugs_*_console_2fa | Pending legacy dashboard email-code challenge, where used | 10 minutes. |
__Host-hugs_login | Bind an authentication flow to its browser | 15 minutes. |
__Host-hugs_pending | Pending authentication flow | 10 minutes. |
hugs_demo_trial | Keep one visitor's private demo data connected across the demo dashboard, player and bubble | Browser-session cookie, with an 8-hour server validity limit. A new demo session starts from sample data. Browser session-restore settings may preserve session cookies. |
hugs_demo_user, hugs_player_email | Current player identity and email context | Browser session by default. When you choose to remember player sign-in, up to 30 days from the latest cookie update. |
hugs_widget_user_label, hugs_widget_user_email, including tenant or demo-session suffixes | Player identity for the widget | Session storage for current-tab use. Local storage only when remembered identity is selected. Remembered values are cleared on the relevant sign-out or withdrawal, or when an expired choice is detected on use; browser controls can also clear them. |
hugs_privacy | Remember analytics and player-identity choices | 180 days after a choice. Contains the policy-control version, choice time and two preferences, not a visitor identifier. |
hugs:review-decision-queue | Support the dashboard's undo period for a requested review decision | Session storage. Entries are normally removed as the decision completes or is undone. Remaining items end with the tab's storage session. |
The dashboard group includes authentication, account, account name, role, client, tenant, active client and active tenant cookies. Authentication and current-session storage support requested access and actions. Remembered identity and activity analytics are separate optional purposes.
Public website and external services
The public marketing website does not currently include an analytics or advertising integration or set first-party cookies in its page-load code. This does not describe the separate dashboard or every customer integration. Accessing a page can still disclose technical information through network requests.
- Google Fonts: the browser requests font styles and files from Google's servers. An external request can disclose technical request information even if it does not set a cookie.
- EmailJS: the contact form uses this service when a visitor submits an enquiry. The installed library supports local-storage rate limiting, but the website does not currently enable that option.
- Hosting: external providers supply hosting and email services. Web-server processing and logs are separate from browser cookies.
Choices and consent
HUGS activity analytics and remembered player identity are off by default. Use Privacy settings in the player footer or inside the bubble to choose either option separately. Use necessary only declines both. You can return to the same control to withdraw your choice. Cancelling or closing the settings does not give consent.
Withdrawing analytics permission stops future HUGS activity tracking from that browser. Turning off remembered identity clears the remembered identity values while allowing the current session to continue where available. Necessary sign-in, requested actions and private demo sessions remain available without choosing optional purposes. Necessary-only choices are remembered so they can be respected on later visits.
You can also manage cookies and site data in your browser settings. Blocking necessary storage can affect the services that depend on it. Ordinary browser caching of downloaded files is different from an advertising or analytics identifier. Browser controls do not replace prior consent where it is required.
These HUGS settings cover the current HUGS player and widget. A customer's website may have additional integrations and separate preference controls. Consult that customer's notice for those technologies.
Clearing browser storage or withdrawing tracking permission does not necessarily delete information already held in service databases, including requested submissions, rewards, or earlier activity records. For requests about that information, use the privacy contact below.
